Listen

[vc_row inner_container=”true” padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px” border=”none”][vc_column][text_output]So many things compete for our attention but so few of them are worth listening to.

Have you ever listened to the space between the noise? What happens in the quiet? Sometimes, what isn’t said speaks volumes.  SImilar to the way just being present for a person who is going through a hard time can be more helpful than offering words of encouragement.

Think of all the things you choose to listen to in a day. Are they productive? Positive? Beneficial to your growth? They say, your thoughts become your feelings and your feelings become your actions. Try as we may, sometimes what we listen to from other people, on television, the Internet, and through music, begins to shape our thoughts.

I’ve recently started getting up earlier than usual. Not only does this increase my productivity, but it gives me a chance to sit in complete silence while everyone else sleeps, and to listen. There’s something different about early morning silence and late night silence, or maybe the difference is internal. If meditation is your thang, get your “hummm” on, if you pray to a big dude above, spend a little bit of time talking and more time listening. Whatever your deal is, this week, take some quiet time for yourself and listen to what your head, your heart, and the world around you is saying to you. Try, just a few minutes a day, to sit still and just quietly listen.

Not only will learning to listen help you tune in and improve your life, but it will help you improve your conversational skills when those in your life need an ear.[/text_output][/vc_column][/vc_row]
